Home Sweet Home with Zelda!

Image
Hi everyone, today I’m sharing a home decor piece that was created using the beautiful September Main Kit.   It has been a while since I have cross stitched, so when I saw all the home sweet home references in this months kit, the elements gave me the idea to create an embroidery hoop decor piece.   I painted an 8” embroidery hoop using this beautiful color called catching rays by Art minds. Once the paint was completely dry I sanded the hoop with my Dremel tool to remove some of the paint and added metallic wax in rose gold which gives the hoop a vintage look which I love.   Using my Cricut I cut out the word home twice, one of the words included in this months cut file. I choose 4 of the patterned papers from the kit which I fussy cut to back the cut file letters.   The floral and stem pieces are from the ephemera included in the kit. I positioned the pieces to curve around the hoop, tacked them together with a little tape, and ran them through my sewin...

Card with Madeline!

Image
Today I'm showing you step-by-step how to create a beautiful card using papers and embellishments from My Creative Scrapbooks September main kit.   To begin, I chose a pretty color combination for my background, pink and forest green. I cut one of the papers slightly smaller than my kraft card base, the second slightly smaller than the first... and layered like so: Next I made two tags from additional papers in the kit, the black and white houndstooth and another forest green print, then adhered them to the card: A little fussy cutting here... gave me this: A few die-cuts were also gathered for the front of the card: First I added the floral circle and "Thank You" sentiment: Then I added the bunny, house, and heart:  A bit of fluffy fiber finishes off those tags, and the card front nicely! But there's more to be done... since I decided that the inside of the card should look just as nice as the outside. ;) Another rectangle of pink patterned paper, a fussy cut floral,...

Background Fun with Yvette!

Image
Hi  My Creative Scrapbook  Friends! Yvette here today with a layout using the September main kit ! For this page I use the Carta Bella 6x6 Floral stencil to create a strip to use as part of my background. I started by using some washi tape to secure the stencil to my white cardstock.    Next, I used a stencil brush to apply the art crayons through the floral stencil. I wanted a soft and subtle look to my background, so I only use shades of orange...and really love how this turn out! Here is what it looks like when it was all completed...   To finish off my background, I added some spatters using some teal watercolor.     I then added a strip of the 06 pattern paper across both sides to give it some definition from the white background.  I also added some machine stitching to the tops of the paper stripes.  My photo was placed directly onto the stencil background. I couldn't resist using those gorgeous vellum floral embellishments an...

Beautiful Layout with Monique!

Image
Hello My Creative Scrapbook fans! It's Monique here today sharing a step-by-step of my "Beautiful" layout, created with the MCS September Main Kit. This is the layout I created:  I'm a huge fan of Pink Paislee and totally adore this month's kit featuring the Auburn Lane collection! I love it so much I didn't want to "spill" any papers and used my kit very carefully. The reason I'm telling you this, is that this is how I came up with the idea for this design, using only 1 sheet of paper: paper 07. I really like the design of paper 07 with all the small triangles and decided I wanted to use the geometrical idea of this paper, but not necessarily limited to triangles. I toyed with some ideas and decided on the diamond shape.   First I cut off strips of paper of 3 "rows" wide, like this: Next I cut diamond shapes consisting of 6 triangles wide and 6 triangles long. After cutting the first, I used that one as a template to cut the rest of t...

Layering Tips with Shona!

Image
Hi everyone! Today I have some layering tips to share. I love to do layer of papers, masking, lace and other pretty things. For the tips I am sharing my two 10 inch tags created with the My Creative Scrapbook September Limited Edition kit. I started with the background layer, adding a strip of another layer of paper on top. I then did some masking with the kit stencil and 13 Arts Moldeling paste. Next I added one more strip of kit papers on top of that before I started with the embellishments. I did some fussy cutting and added a them and a paper doily on top of the first paper layers. Next add more layers with the kit embellishments, the pretty lace, chipboard piece and flowers. I finished it all off with splashes of 13 Arts Gesso watered down with water. Look at all of the pretty layers! That is it for me today. Make sure to check out all the gorgeous kits available this month! I will be back with more shares from the Septemberk it! Take care and happy scrapping!
